Welcome to
Unity Week NZ
An initiative established by the Sakinah Community Trust, a not-for-profit led by seven visionary and compassionate women who lost loved ones in the tragic 15 March 2019 Christchurch Mosque Attacks.
Launched in 2022, Unity Week NZ is an award-winning and impactful series of events that brings people together to reflect on the lessons of the 15 March Mosque Attacks—a profound tragedy that touched hearts across Aotearoa and around the world deeply.
Each year, Unity Week NZ highlights a simple yet profound truth:
When we truly see the humanity in each other, honour the shared bonds that connect us, and respect the differences that make us unique, we build a stronger, more compassionate nation.
All Unity Week NZ events are grounded in the core values of:
Understanding, Nationhood, Integrity, Trust, and You.
We call on everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand to commit to a future where the lessons of 15 March are remembered—and where unity, compassion, and respect are not just ideals, but part of our everyday lives.
Join us.
Become one of “Unity Week NZ Champions”, organise an event for your school, workplace or within your community. And, if you can, attend one of our events! Together, let’s make Unity Week NZ a truly national movement.
